Penang Port gets the thumbs up from Thai DPM

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Port, which serves as one of the busiest trade routes and links to more than 200 ports worldwide has been given the tumbs up by the Thai government.

Its deputy prime minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong said his country had gained much from the direct links its southern provinces had with the port.
 
Kittiratt said Thailand would continue to improve its railway links and highways within the southern regions of Padang Besar, Ranong and Trang so as to tap on the vast economic opportunities of the port.
 
"After visiting the Penang Port on Friday, I now give the thumbs up to it.
 
"The port has all the makings of a true international maritime centre," he said in Penang yesterday.
